Monday

Hobbystreak day 527 (Monday 10 June 2024).

The stack of unfinished models is growing again, which isn’t good. Especially as one of them is large enough to just not have a convenient place to put it while I work on other things.

Tuesday

Hobbystreak day 528 (Tuesday 11 June 2024).

I fancy a quick win model so I grabbed Friar Flavious from Moonstone as he’ll only be a couple of colours. The moonstone sculpts are gorgeous

Wednesday

Hobbystreak day 529 (Wednesday 12 June 2024).

Oh wow, an actual delivery of new Malifaux models. Their supply chain has been so messed up here in the UK that I don’t think I’ve got one of my preorders for months. If only I had a blog that would say when that was.

So what came? None of them really fit any of my current crews but Old Hob should be a nice bit of rusty weathering fun, Ahool should be a fun little model and Kainhearse , his box mate, probably less so. Fumigator and Tunnel Rats risk being a bit dull colour wise so I might want to do something interesting on their bases. The two Crookskin models feel like a bit of a challenge to make look interesting as they’re black and white with nothing to focus the eye. Lastly The Leech King is fun, but the two Giant Leech that come with him cry out for some nice blending to make them look good. Now do I want to put together a Swampfiend crew for them?

That’s 10 models and I suspect the next delivery will be here in less than a month. Keeping up with the Malifaux releases is a goal for the year so they’re jumping the queue I guess once I’ve finish Friar Flavious.

It’s a dumb thing, but the lull in Malifaux models turning up has kind of knocked it off my radar a bit. It doesn’t help that I’ve not played in a month or so either, but there’s a lot to be said about regular releases being important for a game.

Started assembling the Crookskins because I figured they’d be the easiest to paint. I’m thinking a white undercoat with some White Contrast paint on them and then see if that’s enough. If not some white highlights for the mottling. These really are the most Doug Jones of the Malifaux models.

There’s two of them and the one whose feet are just too wide apart for the base is really annoying.

Did some base work on the Crookskins.

Did some more work on Friar Flavious.

Hobbystreak day 532 (Saturday 15 June 2024).

Reworked the skin on Flavious and did some more detailing.

More work on Flavious.
